Although unsightly, tear stains pose no real health risk themselves.  This is not to say the reason for the tear stains is not due to a more serious reason. Tear stains usually form due to something (a hair, or something) by the eye. The following process can be used to remove the tear stain however you should refer to your vet for the real cause of the staining.

Most tear stains can be treated with hydrogen peroxide. Apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to a cotton ball. Clean the stained area being very careful NOT to get any in the dog's eye. Wait several seconds then use a dry cotton ball to remove and remaining hydrogen peroxide. Be sure to dry area completely. Repeat daily until stains are gone.

Add this procedure to your normal bulldog maintenance to help prevent staining.
